APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities are investigating a pair of traffic deaths in the Appleton area.
An 87-year-old woman from Hortonville was killed, when a car in which she was riding was hit by a pick-up truck pulling farm machinery. It happened early last evening on Highway 76 just west of Appleton in Greenville.
Then around 9:30 p-m, a 55-year-old Appleton man died from head injuries in a car-bicycle crash. Police said the man slammed his bicycle into something – and he was lying on a street when a car ran him over.
There were wet weather conditions at the time, and police said the 85-year-old driver apparently couldn’t see the man in time to avoid hitting him. That crash remains under investigation, along with the Greenville mishap.
Officials said that crash happened when the pick-up truck crossed a center-line and hit the car in which the victim was a passenger.
Names of the fatal victims have not been released in either incident.
